Papa Le Gal in the 6 Music hub
In tonight's show we loved the down and dirty rock 鈥榥鈥 roll of Texan underground favourites , who breath new life into the gritty blues rhythms of the past. And the rude awakening of 鈥楶ins鈥 by Norwich trio is a master class in abrasive noise, or 鈥榓rt-punk-fight-pop鈥 as they put it.

We feasted on the fruits of a mid-week session from the 鈥渇ive-headed monster鈥 that is (which is Brazillian slang for 鈥楧addy cool鈥, we鈥檒l have you know). Producer Lucy was lucky enough to sit in on the session and she was quick to lavish praise on how tight the band sounded. Lucy tells no lies - just listen to the flawless recordings of 鈥楾ake A Step鈥 and 鈥榃ake Up鈥 for yourself.听

The enviable flow of - he of The Midnight Ramblers - drew our admiration for its speed and precision. And the fact it鈥檚 propelled by a boisterous dubstep wobble means that the tune 鈥楧angerous鈥 could well be one to watch out for in 2012.

Another highlight was the wonderful 鈥榊our Ego Might Grow鈥 from , which combines the best bits of The Beta Band with an unmistakable European eccentricity. If the book it soundtracks is anything as good this song, then I鈥檓 learning Dutch.

Ice, Sea, Dead People with Tom Robinson
We鈥檝e got another cracking batch of records for you to wrap your ears around this week on 主播大秀 Introducing with Tom Robinson, showcasing the very best streaming tunes Fresh on the Net.

This week we had the pleasure of welcoming again Ed, Craig, Jamie and David, together known as (with Tom, above) to the studio for a catch up, having just released the aural assault that is their new single 鈥樷. Earlier in the week their loyal following were asked to vote on how the boys should approach their interview: 鈥淪hall we be enthusiastic and happy or arsey and unresponsive? YOU DECIDE鈥. You鈥檒l have to listen to their interview to find out how the public voted...

The two exclusive recordings from those 鈥渘otorious denizens of Launderettes鈥, London band , put a smile on our faces in the studio. We heard their debut single 鈥楢nimal鈥 and follow-up 鈥楾he Fool鈥, both of which display the band鈥檚 trademark infectious rhythms and soulful heart. Launderettes won鈥檛 be the only place you鈥檒l be hearing these guys in the near future.

As well as this we had the usual impeccable tip from 主播大秀 Wales鈥 , who offered us an in-vogue blast of noise-pop from the Cardiff based . And DJ Target鈥檚 主播大秀grown Download this week came from , the 22 year old MC based near Milton Keynes, who offers the perfect soundtrack to a 鈥楧utty Weekend鈥.

Elsewhere Tom revisited some of his favourite tracks from the past few weeks. Haunting and undeniably brilliant, 鈥楾he Watchers鈥, by last week鈥檚 Introducing guest , got another well-deserved hearing and will surely have had those listening in the wee small hours looking underneath their beds for fear of beasties- don鈥檛 say we didn鈥檛 warn you. We also spread the light on 鈥 鈥楳ubu鈥, the delightful fuzz bass on which proved much too hard to resist.听 And we heard 鈥3 minutes of blissful, colourful insanity鈥, in the words of from 主播大秀 Introducing In Wiltshire, from , the brainchild of Memphis artist Nick Burke.

Regular listeners may have detected a distinctly cosmopolitan theme to this morning鈥檚 show, perhaps owing to the numerous and wonderful French acts we played. We heard , the one man band project of the mysterious Frenchman named鈥.. Well, that鈥檚 why he鈥檚 mysterious- we don鈥檛 know who he is. But we certainly like what he does. And the so-called 鈥淔rench Sufjan Stevens鈥 got an airing too, with a 鈥檚 nonchalantly romantic tune that gave us a hankering for 鈥榰n petit crossiant鈥 on the beautiful streets of Paree鈥

As ever, the only thing that links the eclectic selection of bands we played this morning is that they were all sent in by you via the Recommend Music tab above. So thanks for that. And needless to say, all these artists deserve a place on your radar, so do yourself a favour and be sure to give tonight鈥檚 entire show a listen via iPlayer and download the choice cuts in the podcast.

Tom Robinson and Jono McCleery
After 鈥檚 superb takeover of the show for the last two weeks, Tom returned from his break this morning with more of the best new streaming tunes around. As ever, he brought an eclectic mix of music to the show; from the chillwave soundscapes of Newcastle producer to the folky vibes of and the gothic electronic nuances of NY artist Bonnie Baxter, aka .

Joining us in the studio this week was the fantastic London-based artist (with Tom, above). Since his initial airplay on 6 Music in 2006, Jono has been swiftly snapped up by - and his second album There Is is out now. As well as talking to us about the positive reception of his new album in France and the US and his love for jazz/ improvisational styles, he admitted to a secret fetish for mastering the double-bass. This was unbeknown to us and it certainly adds to McCleery鈥檚 musical aresenal ! We played Tie Me In - one of his favourites from the new album - and听 we loved its jazz-snap rhythms, brooding vocals and yearning strings. Jono plays a headline show at London's legendary on November and we wish him a storming succes.

Our Sunday morning tip from Huw Stephens at Radio One featured, he told us, the "musical hip-hop genius" of 26 year old London rapper, . The heavy marching rhythms and booming chorus of his track I Can Feel It make it near-impossible to not dance to. DJ Target recommended To And Fro by the Ipswich duo , while brought us a brash but catchy hip-hop chant called I Don鈥檛 Really Care by the London artist , aka The Brown Boi. We were interested to note that Menis had been part of an Asian cultural delegation to Downing Street recently, where he met PM David Cameron. Also in attendance was - featured on this Monday鈥檚 Mixtape edition of the show.

In place of session tracks this week we had two live recordings by - who were recommended to support Elbow at Manchester Cathedral last month by the city's local - and were recorded there by 主播大秀 Radio 2. Working in a similar vein to to the contemplative, alt-rock stylings of bands such as The National. it's amazing to think how far this unsigned band have come since their formation just a few months ago.

Tom gave repeat plays to several of his favourite tracks - including Ghosting by , and All At Sea by - while tonight's spin of the Introducing Roulette wheel turned up the Ulster quartet , with I Want Somebody. It came to us courtesy of Steven Rainey from Rory McConnell鈥檚 主播大秀 Introducing In Northern Ireland programme - and our thanks go out as usual to the listeners, artists and colleagues who recommended yet another great week of diverse under-the-radar music from cyberspace.
