More than 400 letters have been sent to North Wales Police opposing plans which could see the force being merged with the three others to make an all-Wales constabulary. Among the most prominent objectors is Sir William, who lives at Hawarden Castle, Hawarden, the home of his ancestor, former Prime Minister Sir William Ewart Gladstone.

The newspaper says Sir William submitted a letter to the North Wales Police Authority, saying: 鈥淭he geographical situation of Wales makes such an amalgamation inconvenient and inefficient.鈥

Meanwhile, Dan, who mailed in to The Rant has other ideas: "Support for a merger of this kind seems to come from those chief constables and police committees who see this as a challenge and an opportunity and not a threat to their comfort zone."

What do you think?
