The situation regarding affordable housing generally makes for grim reading in Wrexham, Flintshire and Denbighshire - and it's going to have an effect on us all if you think about.
Let me set the scene...
Latest stats on the website shows more than 4,000 people are on housing list in Wrexham. Another are on the housing list in Flintshire, according to .
And last week Flintshire Council vowed to and open negotiations with the Welsh Assembly, saying more cash was needed to tackle the £100m+ repairs bill rather than sell off or transfer its housing stock.
In Denbighshire, the county council took action some time ago appointing an affordable housing officer and introducing a policy to help residents in its rural communities. The website praises the scheme.
In the UK the homeowners among us rub our hands when house prices go up - and up - thinking we're in the money and regardless of the mortgage millstone we seem to relish around our necks.
But if the rising costs keep people from getting on the housing ladder won't that have an effect on the people further up the chain?
