More bad press for our NHS

Following on from our blog debate A health service to be proud of?, the reports today that retired professor Clare Wenger has received an apology from health officials for being treated in dirty conditions whilst a patient at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodelwyddan.

reported yesterday that Prof Wenger, 71, from Gwaenysgor, near Rhyl, decided to write a [contains some graphic content] to circulate to health chiefs, politicians, and academic colleagues about her experiences in the hospital between October 1-7. She explained how conditions made it difficult for her and other patients to maintain a good standard of hygiene and cleanliness.
