Thursday WHYS

Mark Sandell Mark Sandell | 12:55 UK time, Thursday, 23 March 2006

A busy week in the WHYS office; first we get a new blog which we're all pretty excited about and then we're off to the U.S next week.

We've been very chuffed about the number of you who want to be a part of the audiences in and we're looking forward to meeting you. You never know, you might even be given a Ö÷²¥´óÐã pen as a thank you - worth nearly a pound on the open market.

Some of us will be glad to leave London for other reasons; two of the team have been burgled this week which is an all-too-familiar slice of London life. Thankfully, no-one was hurt.

We're looking at , having discussed the story all week. We'll back this up by asking whether in the light of their decision to lay down their arms, that violent campaigns which target civilians don't achieve their aims. The IRA has laid down it's arms even though a united Ireland remains unfulfilled, and ETA did not win separate status.

It's a thorny one this as the old cliche of "one person's terrorist is another's freedom fighter" applies here and our listeners get ready to tell us if we use any perjorative (in their view) terms. For reference, here's what the Ö÷²¥´óÐã says about the language we use.
