Emails on the Middle East

Rabiya Parekh | 12:53 UK time, Monday, 31 July 2006

In the last couple of weeks contributions to the World Have Your Say blog has really increased, and as well as many of you sending in your comments to our debates straight to the blog, we've also been getting lots of emails staright to our inbox.

I've spent much of the morning going through them and listed below are just a small selection of what we have had in.

And please remember to include your telephone number if you would like to come on air and have your say live on the programme.

Levi in the Niger Delta emailed about the international response to the situation.

The criticism against the Israeli offensive in Lebanon by most commentators, especially the EU countries, is most regretable, puerille and smacks of double standard. Hesbollah, which is known worldwide as a terrorist organisation has been given a new name, freedom fighters, but fighting whom? We are all living witnesses when Israel withdrew from lebanon in 2000 and the Lebanese people acting the script of the Arab league allowed Hesbollah to feel in the vacuum occassioned by the withdrawal of Isreal. What did the Israeli's get in return? Bombardment of Haifa and other cities in Northern Israel.

Chana in Jerusalem reflected on the killing of 67 people, mostly children, in the town of Qana on Sunday morning.

There are some in the world who are terribly mistaken blaming Israel when Hizbullah is cowardly murdering civilians on BOTH SIDES ON PURPOSE, and THEY are guilty of the worst war crimes against their own civilians by using them as human shields, and against the terrible unprovoked attack on innocent civilians in Israel - Christian, Arab, Ba'hai, and Jew alike. The tragedy in Kfar Khana lies on Hizbullah - their are numerous reports of Hizbullah stopping their own people from leaving the villages to keep them to use as human shields, and the current investigation is revealing that it may not have been an Israeli bomb that caused the building to collapse, & even if it was, they NEVER would've bombed there if they knew civilians were inside - the building was repeatedly used by terrorists to run for cover after shooting rockets at Israelis! Hizbullah - the blood is all on your own hands. Where is the world outcry against Hizbullahs war crimes?!

Julian questions Israels motives.

Had it been either Iran or Syria that captured the Israeli soldiers, would Israel have responded the way it did to Lebanon (Hezbollah)? Would have Israel done so had it been, by some rather unlikely turn of events, Al-Qaeda?

Israel is proud of its numbers and military prowess and believes that they are in the right and perhaps even invokes the wrath of god upon its enemy. With such determination they are not one to easily admit defeat in their methods. With such indiscriminate bombardment and loss of civilian life followed by the spin of words of its politicians. It is clearly shown that their actions belie the discrepancy between their words and their deeds. It shows that their faith is a mere slave of their intellect and has found no place in their hearts. When will they realize that swords may conquer territories but not hearts and force may bend heads but not minds

Keep sending us your emails.
