Sunday 17 September is Global Day for Darfur. Its a worldwide campaign to raise awareness of the continuing conflict in Darfur, western Sudan. Events are planned around the world, as Sunday is also the 1 year anniversary of the UN pledge to send in troops to protect civilians. .

Lots of celebs like George Clooney are on a mission to save Darfur, but the UN has yet to send in troops after the Sudanese government in Khartoum vetoed the idea, saying that they will send in their own trops instead. We talked to people in Sudan two weeks ago about this.

So what more can or should be done to help the people in Darfur? Should the UN disregard the Sudanese governments wishes and send troops in the region? Who should have the final say? What are your thoughts?

Also making the news this morning, the Pope has managed to anger many Muslims. Whilst on a visit to Germany, he quoted a 14th Century Christian emperor who said Muhammad had brought the world only "evil and inhuman" things. Dear me... So should the Pope apologise? Should he and other religious leaders be allowed to speak and debate freely? Or was he being just plain offensive? You can join the debate .

Japan's Supreme Court has by cult leader Shoko Asahara, paving the way for his execution.
Asahara was convicted in 2004 of masterminding a 1995 attack to release sarin nerve gas on the Tokyo subway during the morning rush-hour. I wonder what Japan is making of this....
