So we've James, Rabiya, Mark, Paul, Priya, Pete, Richard, David and Alexandra... And if that seems like a lot, it's because it's full steam ahead for America next week and there's plenty to be organised.

1130: Priya's done an excellent round up of the main stories she's seen. Plenty of issues around the situation in iraq and the media. The Pentagon has set up a new media task force and there's been a move to stop US servicemen in Iraq writing their own blogs. Add to this US Vice-Pres Dick Cheney commenting that al-Qaeda is using the Internet to spread misinformation about Iraq and there may well be something for us here. But how should we frame a discussion about the media, the Internet, Iraq and the US elections and public opinion there. Lots of topics which you clearly want to talk about but we'll need to be careful how we treat this on air.

1140: Rich says he likes this email from Ron Novak

It might be interesting to look at the new list of the most dangerous cities in the U.S. that came out yesterday. You might want to look at this in relation to the poverty and unemployment levels (I suspect a high degree of correlation) in these cities and correlate this with midterm election results next week. Note that most of the most dangerous cities (= high crime rate) are in the midwest.

But what do we want to ask? Pete's concerned that most of the most dangerous cities in the world will simply be affected by war and that that isn't a major talking point. I am interested in hearing about life in these cities but I can see his concerns that it could lack a little focus. Ron I also need to get a link to that list as well.

1145: As we're talking in Italy has posted...

Good morning, I'll send you another topic that you can discuss in today's program: in these days in Naples (but not just in Naples, also in other cities in south Italy) there's an escalation of criminalities. It's a very shame. Italy is not just one: there's at least two Italy. One where there are laws and people follows the laws and another that is like the wildest far west where everyone has their own laws. Very often also happen that people don't let the police to arrest the criminals. It's unbelievable, I don't think in other places in the world things like that happens. Now they're also thinking to send troops to solve the problem: I don't think the troop can sort out the problem, there's the need to change the people.

1150: David's just emailed me a note from a colleague saying that there are lots of unconfirmed reports of events in the Fiji military, including one that there's been some shooting, and another that (yet another) high-ranking officer has been removed... We'll see what we can find out about that from our contacts and also see what those of you there can tell us.

1152: Yesterday we didn't have time to speak to some fo you in Pakistan about on an alleged military camp there. There have been major protests and I'd like to hear what those of you there think. Do you accept such raids are necessary in combating al-Qaeda, or this kind of action a betrayal of the Pakistani people by its government? Are they being too accomodating of attacks within their country? I for one would like to hear that and Rich (not always my most loyal supporter) agrees.

1154: James is interested in the in the Mexican city of Oaxaca. It's a story we never seem to be able to decide upon. Priya thjinks we should definitely do it as we keep avoiding the story... but Rich says it's too local and we should leave it.

1156: And Paul has been reading about Kentucky Fried Chicken . If you eat KFC do you care? Does everything we eat have to be good for us? Not a great deal of interest in this one in the meeting - are we missing a trick here?

1200: It's coming down to something concerning the influence in the Internet, the situation in Mexico, living in dangerous cities and how to tackle crime in them and hearing frustration about that attack in Pakistan. Thanks for your contributions and I'll post again on what we've decided.
