I am a 39 year old 'stay at home' mum of 4. I grew up and live in Nairobi. I am also a Business Woman, marketing, purchasing and supplying fruits and vegetables - specifically export quality pineapples which i source from farms outside of Nairobi to distribute locally from real people who know.
(The Pineapples are in season all year round while we trade in vegetables when they are in season as well) As the kids grow older I have plans to move my office to a Godown and grow my business as it has a lot of potential.
My resolution for 2006 was to exercise regularly and eat healthy. I swim 3 times a week and make sure i drink a cup of blended assorted vegetables using carrot juice as a base every morning. This gives me the much needed energy to keep up with my demanding young children!
I read a lot of books and I am currently looking for a Book Club to join. I get to read a lot when i travel with my children back to the village to visit my parents who are now retired and living in the country side..
I have to say that I am a 'party animal'. Occassionally I catch up with girls and go out dancing, watch a movie or drive out of town .
Ö÷²¥´óÐã has opened my world and that is how I stumbled on to your programme while listening to my radio (which is on 24hours a day). I listened to WHYS one day and promised myself that I would take part in your show some day.
WHYS has given me a chance to look and learn what is beyond my borders.The global conversations are challenging, current and make me research on them after the programme.
There are a lot of issues that i follow up on. Currently there is the terrorist crisis all over the world. The Middle East crisis, Iraq,Sudan,Somalia etc
Environment Crisis / Energy Crisis. Global Warming and Green House Gas Emissions is a global issue that concerns all of us. I avoid driving my car and opt to walk just to try and make a difference in the Global Warming debate.
Medical Issues are of another concern to me. The discovery of a vaccine for Cervical Cancer recently will go a long way to make a difference for the woman.
Gender issues. My role models are Ellen Johnson Sir-Leaf : President of Liberia, Posho Simpson Miller: the 1st Jamaican woman Prime Minister, Dora Akunyili: Director National Agency for Food And Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) etc
