The Morning Meeting...

Paul Coletti | 11:12 UK time, Thursday, 25 January 2007

Good morning and welcome to the morning meeting. Phone us on +442075570635 if you'd like to join us on our speakerphone! Read on for early ideas including: the rise of the economy, -- should it be taught and the hot new weapon of choice for the US military, the .

Britishness
Mr Ajegbo's report was a strong player this morning on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã's domestic talk radio and we're wondering if World Have Your Say listeners would find this topic interesting? The report has concluded that pupils should be taught more about the history of Britain and about how British values of tolerance and respect developed.

Heat ray
This is an oddity but is one of the most e-Mailed stories on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã web site. Is it worth talking about.

Ahmadinejad
The Iranian is coming under fire from within his own country. Nobody is really sure what the talking point is here?

The Rise of China
Are you concerned about the Chinese developing economy? Can the Chinese economy grow in the way everyone predicts under a Communist political system?

My own particular suggestion for this morning's meeting is mercenaries in Iraq but there's no real peg for this story. Do you think mercenaries, or security consultants, should be allowed to operate in Iraq and Afghanistan and other locations? Is this a subject you'd like to know more about?

Second Life
Do players need to get a real life? Is the virtual reality game Second Life simply a very elaborate pyramid-selling scheme in which the bosses at the top are raking it in while the punters at the bottom are being fleeced? Is this a talking point?

Are diamonds good for Africa?
The film has shone a critical light on the mining industry in Africa. Will it make you think twice about wearing diamonds?

Jimmy Carter's apology
The former US president has issued an over a paragraph he wrote in his book "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid". It's certainly a talking point in the US and Israel.
