Rui Silva in Georgia

Hello everyone. My name is Rui Silva and I live in Monroe, Georgia, USA. Monroe is located 60 miles from Atlanta, Georgia. I'm an electrical designer with an engineering firm here in the state of Georgia. Our primary business is hospitality and residential. I'm what the media has been portraying as a "Fundamentalist Christian" because I am a Baptist. However I am not fundamentalist and I am certainly not what the American media has been saying about Evangelical Christians.
I'm married to a wonderful girl named Julie. I have a daughter, son, step-son and a step-daughter. We live in the country with lots of woods and peace around us. My faith is one of the most important things to me and I like to live my faith out in the open. However, unlike some radical religions in the world today, I would never think of harming anyone or imposing my will on someone that does not believe as I do.
There are some radical religious elements in the US today but not all Christians are radical. I love ice hockey, American football, and have started to become interested in soccer. The World Cup really opened the sport up for me. I also like to listen/watch world news and try to follow world events. The Ö÷²¥´óÐã is one of my favorite outlets to get a good picture of what is happening in the world around us.
Monroe is a small city in the county of Walton, in Georgia. It's full of history and was spared burning during the American Civil War. Some of it's architecture stands as it did in those times. Much has been restored but it's really what one thinks of when thinking of small town American.
Most days everyone knows everyone else. However it's growing by leaps and bounds. New stores and businesses are coming to the area because of it's available space, affordable housing and spectacular wooded land. I fear that we may only have another 5 to 10 years before it no longer is a small town.
My average day begins with an early morning walk with our dog at 5:30AM, a quick shower and on to work by 6:15AM. The average day consists of a hectic work schedule meeting client demands, deadlines for projects and many meetings. By 4:30PM I am ready to leave and come home to relax. Dinner is either already cooked or waiting for me to cook it. Julie and I take turns making dinner while the other relaxes after a long day.
We then watch some TV, play with London, our white and tan Pekingese, and finally it's bed time at 11:00PM.
I listen to WHYS at work, I stream the Ö÷²¥´óÐã from my computer. I found WHYS and World Have Your Say while streaming Ö÷²¥´óÐã World News.
I find it to be one of the best radio programs I've every listened to and love to participate when ever possible. I especially like the world view it has, the contributions from around the globe. You just can't get that from any other place.
There is nothing I don't like about WHYS. It's incredible how connected you make the listening public feel to the station and the show. Simply incredible.
I truly enjoy hearing about subjects that are not in the media at the time. Things that we just don't get from our national news here in the US. It always makes me feel like I'm getting insider information because I'm the first to know about situations around the world. There really isn't much to complain about. And the stories that are fresh and hot, the topics that are in the news currently always take on a world view on the program. It's never one sided, it's a global view of things and that is what I most enjoy.
