Thoughts for Tuesday

Ukraine - A clash of wills
There's been a long-running power struggle between the pro-Western president and pro-Russian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych. Polls predict that a new election would result in another split between the two, and further political instability. Are you in Ukraine? How does this split affect you?
Over the weekend, I was reading about the row in Germany caused by newsreader Eva Herman. which basically involves staying at home and having babies. It's sparked a wrath of fury - one feminist campaigner described Herman's theories as "gibberish between a Stone Age bat and a Mother's Cross" - the Nazi medal of honour awarded to mothers of more than three children. Clearly, linking anything to Nazism is going to cause a row, but it's an interesting debate. Yesterday I read an article on my journey to work, a British mother who has written a book urging other mothers On my search on just one newspaper's website, I found a load of similar articles and agony aunt columns dedicated to the dilema. and are from the last week alone. I'd like to hear from women around the world on this. Do you agree with Eva Herman? Did you stay at home to bring up your children and regret it, or do you wish you'd spent more time with your children? Or have you decided not to start a family because it's just too much pressure....?
Tsunami
We were unable to talk to people in the Soloman Islands yesterday, where a Tsunami struk over the weekend leaving more than 20 people dead. There are reports of panicked locals fleeing the city, and experts are warning of a fifty per cent chance of aftershocks. I think we should see if we can get some reaction from there...
Nancy Pelosi - going it alone?
The , spokeswoman Dana Perino stressed Monday that the Bush administration objected to all visits to Syria, as, "it sends the wrong message to have high-level U.S. officials going there (to Syria) to have photo opportunities that Assad then exploits". Pelosi has shrugged off the criticism, saying she has great hopes for improving relations between the two countries. How do you feel about her trip? Is she right to go?
