I finally got to meet Alan Johnston yesterday. I have spoken to him on a fair few radio programmes but we've never met. It was very exciting. He asked me to tell you all that WHYS was the highlight of his day while he was being held (I'd hope it still is but I'll forgive him if he's missed a couple of shows since his release). It is a very nice feeling to think we all helped him a little.

THE GOOD, THE BLOG AND THE UGLY
Yesterday's show was a record-breaker. We got more comments to the blog in one hour than ever before so many thanks to all of you who got involved. The downside is that the blog still regularly refuses to take comments. If it does this please just email worldhaveyoursay@bbc.co.uk and if you haven't lost the will to live please mention that the blog has refused you - it helps our campaign with the techies to sort it out. There's no 'ugly' I just liked the sound of the header.
ALI IN KUWAIT'S POSITIVE VIEW OF ISLAM
I got a long and passionate email from Ali today. He thinks that discussions of Islam are often too negative on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã, and put together an argument about why we're getting it wrong. I've posted the email on the blog. Have a read and let him know what you think.
KEN IN CLEVELAND'S NEW BLOG
Ken's a good friend of WHYS. He came to see us when we visited WCPN and he regularly sends us his take on the news. So much so in fact that to respond to what he hears on the show. Pay him a visit and if you've a blog you'd like me to mention, let me know.
ANU RETURNS
I'm off to New Orleans tomorrow and so Anu Anand is going to be at the helm on Wednesday and Friday. She was a fixture on WHYS for a long time (and hosted the first show), so it'll be friends reunited tomorrow.
RUSSIA V BRITAIN - THE DIPLOMATIC SHOWDOWN
Icey is one way of describing relations between Russia and Britain after . Not that it was sweltering before that. The nub of the matter is that the Brits want former KGB agent Andrei Lugovoi who they believe killed former KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko in London last year. And they're not going to get him. Whether for good reason I'll let you decide.
LIFE NEAR THE LEAK
Japanese officials that was a radioactive leak at a nuclear power plant following an earthquake on Monday. We're going to try and speak to people who live in the nearby towns.
DO YOU WANT TO STOP THE 'GO-BAG'?
Everyone should have a ready in case of terrorist attack or natural disaster, says the local authority in Sydney. Should they really? And if you're already packing yours, what's in it? A radio I hope.
