Do you think fat people are equal? Do you think of your overweight colleagues as smart, capable, hard-working? Or do you attach opinions like lazy, slow and dull to them without necessarily being conscious of it? A proposed bill in Massachusettes wants to add 'weight' and 'height' to its anti-discrimination legislation. At just over five feet, I'd probably be covered... But is it fair? Is fat a choice (short certainly isn't!) ... or is it like being gay, a woman or an ethnic minority and therefore, worthy of legal protection?

Lost in Translation
Should Iraqi translators working for the American or British militaries be given automatic asylum? The British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has ordered an urgent review of the situation, after one loyal Iraqi translator was sent a letter saying he would be given no special treatment and suggesting he visit a government website for visa information. This was despite the fact that a top British military official had written a letter urgently suggesting he be considered for asylum in the UK.

If translators working for the military are given asylum... what's to stop Iraqis working for British companies or NGOs also claiming the right to special treatment?
Does the Coalition owe a debt to the Iraqi men and women who have risked their lives and the lives of their families? Or is payment for a job well done, enough?
