Taking the temperature in San Francisco

| 20:55 UK time, Friday, 26 October 2007

As part of the World Service series on climate change, World Have Your Say will be broadcasting for the first time from San Francisco. And for the first time on a Saturday 鈥 3rd November.

We鈥檙e very pleased to be joining forces with , and for the broadcast, which will be devoted to the issue of climate change.

The location is the , very relevant considering the impressive list of people who have made films in the city; Alfred Hitchcock, Clint Eastwood, Chris Columbus, Francis Ford Coppola, Phillip Kaufman and George Lucas. I visited for a few days as part of a road trip a few years ago, I'm still not sure if I felt at home because it's such a welcoming place, or because it felt so familiar from the number of films I have seen featuring it's hilly streets and tram system...

You can鈥檛 avoid the subject of climate change, I spent the weekend with my Mother, who has recently taken delivery of recycling bins for her home and thinks separating her rubbish is a huge waste of time and wants to see greater proof that the planet heating up is man made. I suggest she watch Al Gores 鈥淎n inconvenient truth鈥, and our own conversation became a bit too heated so I changed the subject. I can promise you that won鈥檛 happen on this blog, or during the show, so please tell me what you know about climate change, what you would like to know, and the areas of debate you are most interested in hearing play out on the show.

I can鈥檛 think of a better city than the San Francisco to have the discussion, or two better partner stations, so let鈥檚 get the ball rolling now. Thanks to Andrea Kissack of KQED for her comments below. Have a read and let us know what you think. The blog is sometimes a little unreliable, so if you have any problems posting your comments, please e-mail your points to anna.stewart@bbc.co.uk and I will make sure they go up.
