Project X

Daniel Peak | 08:58 UK time, Wednesday, 26 September 2007

Hello. This is my first entry here, so as new kid on the blog I should probably introduce myself a bit:

Hello. My name is Daniel. Hello. I’ve been working as a full-time writer for four years, writing sitcoms and children’s programmes, and last year I wrote my first series I'm With Stupid for Ö÷²¥´óÐã3.

It can be a tedious and frustrating process writing TV scripts and through this blog I hope to share some of that tedium and frustration with you. It can also be massively fun and rewarding, which I won’t mention.

So what am I working on at the moment? I’ve just finished putting together a treatment for a new sitcom, and it’s in a Ö÷²¥´óÐã executive’s inbox at this very second. I’m hoping she might commission a script. For now I will call the treatment Project X, not because it is a remake of the 1987 drama about Matthew Broderick’s love for a monkey, but because I don’t want to go into loads of detail about it only to have it rejected and to look like a div.

In the spirit of Abi’s cliffhangers, I’ll let you know what happens. If Project X gets thumbs-upped I’ll keep some sort of record of how the writing progresses. If they chuck it out then I suppose I’ll write about what I’m watching on daytime TV.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Hello.

Hi Daniel: Good luck with the series proposal at Ö÷²¥´óÐã. Hope the 'executive' likes it. I'm a writer in London, Ontario, Canada. I'm still working at my first script sale--not my first writing sale mind you. I have a number of spec scripts of varying genres done and am shopping them around. In fact, the Ö÷²¥´óÐã Writersroom is looking at one of them now. As you can see through my website, I am also the co-owner (along with my sister, artists Alison Williams) of SillWill Press, an inde. comic book publishing company. And yes, I know what you mean by writing being a frustrating and tedious process at times--as well as a fun. I love it--when it's not driving me crazy. Anyway, good luck and let me know how 'Project X' turns out: thumbs up or thumbs down. Best, Mr. A. Jaye Williams

Here's hoping you don't enter div territory. Looking forward to reading the progression (hopefully).
Suerte.

Hello David, I'm new too. Well, not a new writer, a new "fan" of the blog, I suppose.

You sound nervous--you said "hello" four times. Or maybe you're just happy to be here, haha :)

I hope everything goes well for you! I can't wait for updates. :D

And now I feel stupid because I put David and not Daniel, LOL.

Oh well! :D
