After bit-parts in Coronation Street and crime dramas including Cracker, in the late Nineties, she proved to have a strong talent as a comedy actress, playing multiple roles in major series such as Brass Eye, Big Train and Jam before landing a key role in the long-awaited second series of I'm Alan Partridge as Alan's sex-hungry Ukrainian girlfriend Sonja.

Yet as well as these impressive acting credits, Bullmore is a gifted writer: penning two episodes of This Life before becoming a finalist for the 2000 Dennis Potter Award, for her first 90-minute drama (The Middle).

She continues to show her versatility in both drama and comedy acting, appearing in the hit 主播大秀 drama State of Play as well as Five's black comedy Suburban Shootout, and provides voices for multiple characters in Radio 4's acclaimed spoof phone-in show Down the Line.
