Kevin Eldon in sketch show Big Train

"The actor Kevin Eldon", as he is occasionally referred to in self mocking style, has been a reliable presence in supporting roles in many successful comedies since the mid 1990s.

He is supremely versatile and rarely goes unnoticed, thanks to his wide eyed, malleable and quizzical face.

Born in Kent in 1960, he started his career as a character based stand-up comic.

Early work with Stewart Lee and Richard Herring (most notably playing dysfunctional hobbyist Simon Quinlack) led to subsequent successful collaborations with Julia Davies (as put-upon and not actually dead husband Terry in Nighty Night), Armando Iannucci, Steve Coogan and Chris Morris.

The sketch show Big Train removed him from the shadows of such famous movers and shakers, as has a higher profile role as the second lead in Hyperdrive, which will only reinforce his reputation as that funny bloke who nobody can quite remember the name of.
