Complaint
A listener complained the choice of guest in a discussion about the Middle East demonstrated the Ö÷²¥´óÐã’s bias in favour of Israel. The ECU considered whether the item met the standards of due impartiality set out in the Editorial Guidelines.
Outcome
The item featured an interview with a representative of The Times of Israel. In the ECU’s view it was entirely clear listeners were hearing a personal view of the situation in Israel, and what she described as unhappiness, confusion and a lack of trust in the government and the military.  Listeners would have placed her contribution in the context of the introduction, which made clear the international anger against Israel over their actions in Gaza – and judged her comments accordingly.
