A viewer complained that a reference to the Prime Minister as 鈥淏辞谤颈蝉鈥 by the presenter, though probably a lapse rather than a deliberate expression of disrespect, was nonetheless symptomatic of bias.聽 The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the 主播大秀鈥檚 editorial standards of impartiality.
Outcome
The use of Prime Minister鈥檚 forename occurred in a verbatim quotation by the presenter from a question as phrased by a member of the audience.聽 Consequently it could not be considered a lapse on the presenter鈥檚 part, or to have given any indication, involuntary or otherwise, of the presenter鈥檚 attitude to the Prime Minister.聽 There was therefore no inconsistency with the 主播大秀鈥檚 standards of impartiality.
