Complaint
A listener complained that Nick Robinson, reporting from Ukraine, had referred to 鈥渞eports, as yet unsubstantiated鈥f troops abandoning鈥 Kiev, as this amounted to giving currency to information which might turn out to be false, and which could have repercussions for those involved in the conflict.聽 The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the 主播大秀鈥檚 editorial standards of accuracy.
Outcome
The ECU noted that an exodus from Kiev was being widely reported in news media internationally at the time.聽 As it also noted, however, Nick Robinson had not in fact spoken in the terms complained of, so no issue of accuracy arose in this instance.
