As I write this diary entry I am sat in a friend's living room after saying goodbye to my mum earlier today. She had come for three and half weeks and we had the most amazing time – something neither of us will ever forget.

We started our adventure off in Sydney and then hired a campervan and headed south to Victoria. Our little van was perfect – it was a Toyota and did us proud. We covered 3,380 km over 18 days and man did we feel it – we defiantly spent the majority of our time driving – but it was worth it.

When we got to the far south of Victoria it was time to drive The Great Ocean Road – wow! The views of the cliffs you get whilst driving is spectacular and something that I will never forget. The Twelve Apostles were a sight as well, as you can see from the photo that I have here. Just to think that one-day they will no longer be there, as we speak the sea is eroding them away and then they will just be a distant memory.

From here it was onto The Grampians National Park where we did a tough walk up to The Pinnacle, which was a slightly strenuous but enjoyable walk. It provided spectacular views of geology, native vegetation and scenic landscapes.

We carried on our journey from here to Echuca on the river Murray, the paddle steamer capital of Victoria. Whilst here we went on a paddle steamer up the Murray and learnt about the busy river port town of Echuca when it was in its prime from 1865 – 1910.

Before going to Melbourne we made a quick detour to see some friends in Allbury, just over the boarder in NSW. Spent a lovely few days with them and then it was back to the big smoke. And what a lovely big smoke – Melbourne is a fantastic city and somewhere I could definitely see myself spending some more time one day.

We then both fly back to Sydney on Sunday 11th and it will be time for me to find yet another job.

That's all from me now and I have just worked out that I only have another 13 weeks left of my trip and I'll be back home. So there will probably be one more diary entry from Australia and then one from New Zealand. What will you do without me…don't worry, I'm sure you'll all survive.
