This workshop is suitable for those with basic knowledge of photography and digital imaging. Please bring any example photos you've got and a few objects to use as inspiration!

By encouraging the use of props (asking people to bring in significant items) this workshop will relate stories, memories and hopes to the photographic process and the participants will learn how different photograph styles can suggest meanings beyond pictorial or documentary use.

Using digital cameras and basic image manipulation software, artist Faye Chambers will work together to experiment with the visible and emotive difference made by simple cropping, colour alteration etc, as well as seeing results on the screen and encouraging re-shooting from different angles, with alternative lighting etc.

Add photos to the Big Picture website

A range of these images will be uploaded to The Big Picture website, to share this experimentation and add to the record breaking attempt.

Showing historic and contemporary examples and giving hands-on help to create a range of images, Faye will broaden understanding of expression and communication through images.

Creative photographs

From this basis, working with personal images and creating great photographs, the group will then be asked to consider the mosaic as a whole, contributing to the design or ideas as appropriate for the mosaic artist.

Faye's also a video journalist and will be capturing the group's accompanying stories on film.
