I have a fishtank coldwater, for guppies and goldfish. I have had it for years I have a filter.

Our lasst fish died and I am cleaning it, the tank, scraping the limesale off, first time in nearly 4 years.

Do I fill it with cooled boiled water or tap water, up until now I have used boiled water fish live for nearly 4 years .

Hi Gill, we always used tapwater but added a few drops of something we bought from the aquarium shop (sorry can't remember the name) which is supposed to neutralised harmful chemicals that are added to our drinking water.

It's called Fresh Start, and it takes out all the harmful minerals, as you say.

You should put a few drops in (amount according to how big your tank is) every time you add water to the tank.

(We have a 260 litre Juwel tank, three Sarossa Comets who have shark DNA in there somewhere, they eat so much, and a Fantail who's a right tart.)

Fluff to the rescue! How are you?

DS bought something that fits under the sink in the kitchen and produces 'RO' water or something like that, which you can put straight into the tank. (Bet you're dead impressed by my grasp of the technical details!)

Hi, Pahnda, good to see you. Hope to see you on the 24th.

RO is reverse osmosis. I bet your tapwater tastes good.
