2 daughters plus fiancees coming home for the w/e. (Banns being read - v exciting) They all love their food and are good cooks - suggestions for Sunday lunch please. Not chicken or pork (did that last times). Hve done blackberry and apple crumble for pud and would love to do roast beef, but it will be so expensive - They are getting a lasagne tomorrow night and do love a 'proper' family roast when they come home! The veggie garden has potatoes/carrots/parsnips/spinach/red and yellow onions/sprouts/turnips/and the wretched celeriac that looks wonderful on top but is not really bulking up much - so a mass of roots! Any ideas gratefully rec'd - they will bring loads of wine and are brill at washing up.

Ooh, I think I'd do a casserole of some sort. You could do a really lovely lamb and spinach curry. Or go french and do a boeuf bourgignon. I occasionally make Allegra McEvedy's morrocan meatballs for guests (very easy to do ahead). They're always gratefully received and use the available veg in the couscous.

Or you could do a slow roasted leg of lamb (leave in low oven for 5 - 6 hours etc)

Congrats to the happy couple, BTW.
