I can't believe Ruth said that - for goodness sake she's supposed to be a feminist - what with being 'lady farmer'.

For Ruth's information, widows miss their husbands (and, no doubt, widowers miss their wives) for all sorts of reasons, eg company, someone to talk to, support, care, etc, etc. I don't think 'someone to cook and clean for' is up there.

Sorry, it touched a nerve, rant over.

    a) Did you /mean/ to post this in TVH rather than DtA?

    b) Your raise a good point, anyway.

    c) I'm lucky that I still have OH, but there was an evening when he was out, shortly after Squigg's sudden bereavement, where I suddenly found myself overwhelmed by the feeling of what it would be like to not have him come back that night. I have to say, I felt suddenly totally lost smiley - sadface

I still feel lost sometimes and it was over thirteen years ago. I miss the laughs.

Yes, Bette, I did mean to post to DTA, I've no idea what happened and thanks for your reply. I was probably too cross to concentrate properly.

Just realised that this could be read as a callous remark and I hope you know that I would never mean it that way DJQ - my little attempt to cheer you only. I'm a bit tired so not thinking as clearly as I should.

love to you and the junior damsons

Never taken offence yet, I'm not like that, Savvie. We could all do with a big laugh and little ones on occasion.

The legs are a bit rough, but not as rough as I thought it was going to be. A few months back I had a new femoral artery, which unfortunately blocked almost immediately. Then they put the bejesus up me by talking about the leg deteriorating and having to have a last ditch flush through with heparin. Otherwise I would be losing my leg. However when I went back to see him a week later he decided that my leg had stabilised and I was back to where I was a couple of years ago, but that they could do nothing for me, and he'd see me in six months. Always provided that nothing awful had happened (i.e. grangrene in my leg etc.).

I'm managing okay as I now have a blue badge, something which I didn't have before. I had always resisted, hoping that the next op would be successful, and there would be no need for the badge at all.

Still, as you say 2D is a great laugh. I've just picked him up from a trip to see Snow White at the local theatre. He thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Best wishes to you

    Damson

You've had a really rough year DJQ and I hope so much that 2010 will bring some calm into your life for once with no alarums (!) about health - what a pain they are - in every way. You know where I am if you ever want to talk. Just take care of yourself and make the most of the blue badge - they are getting harder to acquire I'm told.

All the very best to you and the younger damsons

    Love

    Savvie
