    My OH has bemoaned the fact that the fishing forums he has tried are "full of idiots", for instance, a question typically gets the response "durr - are you thick or what".

    I suggested trying here. All questions I have ever posted have met with sensible, non-judgmental replies, and I'm sure he'd find some likeminded posters.

    Is there anyone out there interested in fishing?
    He is interested particularly in ;
    Fly tying
    Fly fishing for salmon, sea trout, brown trout, grayling.
    Course fishing, especially for roach.

    I'd be grateful for any replies on his behalf.

    Yes, I fly fish, but life's too short to spend crouched over a vice sprouting feathers and fur and glitter.

    So I buy my flies.

    I am not the only fly fisher in ML but I do not know whether the others tie their own flies.

    I did once tie a Wickham's Favourite and it fell to bits as soon as it hit the water.

    I don't coarse fish, though I have been known to spin for mackerel. I gave that up when I caught a seal :v(

    You caught a seal?? Huh - I spent all day fishing for mackerel as a child and everyone caught shed loads - I caught one hermit crab.
    ......... but since then I have caught 4 tiger fish (spinning - not on a fly - my companions were on flies and were incredible -78 tigers in 3 days!! It was the most exciting 3 days ever!). Made Robson Green look a bit of a wuss.

    Oh, my dad ties his own flies.

    In the past, I'd give him my remnants of embroidery threads left over after a project. These days, he even buys his own feathers.

    One thing we share in common is patience when it comes to making things.

    He has them displayed in little boxes and they really are like miniature works of art.
