Literally. Going loopy. I'm quite harmless but my behaviour is not quite normal. I go through life with reasonably good intentions but, as my mother often said to me 'You're a misfit'. My grandmother said that 'you always want to know the ins and outs of an elephant's backside'. I don't think I really understood how rude that was until I grew up.
Do I have any soul-mates out there?

Dunno. As a misfit, certainly. But we all have our own ways of misfitting. What's yours (apart from your interest in elephants' bums, of course)?
As Drystane says, might we have an example please, it is rather hard to know what you mean. mm

Oh, well.. if you're talking about misfits, that describes me and most of my friends. In fact, I get on best with people who ARE misfits rather than those that do fit in with the majority.
It was a guy called David at my school who pointed this all out to us in the back room of the sixth form common room. Since then, at least I've known what I am.
I always take comfort in the idea that the majority may not always be right.

That Old Janx Spirit. Ah, how I miss your 'old' screen name.
I was never young. Now I lust for my youth.
Do I have any soul-mates out there? Â
Yes.
I've never been much of a conformist. My mother still rolls her eyes at a lot of what I do or say - as does my sister now.
I've never followed fashion nor trends, but always wore what I liked if I thought it suited me ok. I hate parties and gatherings and prefer the company of animals to humans - although I still like a good old natter with friends (in small doses).
I like to think of my lifestyle as being individualistic ... bordering on the bohemian. My idea of heaven is living in a caravan beside the river with loads of pets. I've never been materialistic and find myself now appreciating only the things that really do matter; health, shelter/food and heat.
Some people probably do think I'm a bit odd - and quite frankly, I don't care. Age gives me the excuse and confidence to be as odd as I choose to be.

I think it would have been "nicer" had your mother described you as *unique* rather than a misfit, which sounds rather unkind ... it depends whether she said it "with a twinkle in her eye" ...
Yes ~ it sounds as though you are unique & special, which hopefully we all are, in our own unique & special way ... It would be a very boring world if we were all exactly the same, would it not??
I myself am not overly bothered in being conventional, especially with regards to fashion. For instance, I went into town, on the bus, this morning wearing a pair of bright, flowery ankle-length culottes. Genuinely!!!!
The only place I sometimes feel a bit of a mis-fit is on these message boards lol
Seriously though, I do feel myself thinking I must be weird because I see a thread full of people finding something really funny, that I find excruciating, or people getting really involved in a story that, to me, just looks like fantasy.
Then again, maybe lots of people are reading and thinking the same as me. Who knows?

I think many, many people have 'good intentions' yet feel misfits in some way. I am interested in what pushed you into posting this thread, though.
I am one of life's 'misfits'. I have always been 'on the outside' at work, at school, within my family.
My Grandfather once looked me up and down, I was wearing one of my 'unique' outfits, and muttered 'bad blood will out'. I assumed he meant my dad's side as my mum and dad were divorced but I later discovered we had actors and circus performers in the family way back in the day and he meant that!

Umm...possibly because I live inside a flexible bubble; flexible but impenetrable.
