This is a thread for all you proud grandparents / parents to boast about your descendents / offsprings most trivial achievements.

I've only been a grandma for 20 months and I'm loving every moment of it. The next one (to different parents) is due in November.

Just to give a tenor to the thread....

My grandson is just learning to talk. A tractor is a cakter, I think such vehicles will be called that forever more in our family.

I gave him his first taste of peanut butter today. He was not impressed and clearly likes marmite much more.

Ah I love it when ours began to talk Nomes - absolutely wonderful words come from their little mouths. Our GD couldn't say her 'g's or 'k's for some time so we were Dranny and Drandpa. Her first trip skiing was related to us with much excitement which she said "Dranny, we went on a table tar" and her desire for a pet was "Dranny, I'd like to have little tat".

Little GS on the other hand had trouble with his 'l's and his 'r's, but being one year younger than his sister, he copied her Dranny and Drandpa as well. We were very sad when they learned to speak properly.

Ours have just left after a few days - it is very quiet in the house again. (Also very tidy once more, but who cares about that).

Grandchildren are the best thing your kids ever give you IMHO.

    Love

    Savvie

Grandma and Grandpa are pronounced "Ga-ga" at the moment. Well he seems to have got us sussed.

Grandchild No. 2 has been photographed again today. We are expecting a copy tomorrow. Only four months before we get a proper look at him/her (they've chosen not to know).

Savvie, I never got it when people used to give up time to look after their grandchildren. I so get it now. As far as I am concerned being a grandma is the best job in the world.

I have 3 grandchildren. 10 year old twins (boy and girl) and a 3 year old grandson. I see more of 3 year old as he is not at school. Spend time with girl twin and she often tells me things she does not tell her parents. Keep saying that I must take older grandson to see the football as a way of spending time with him.

School holiday comeing up. A good rest for teachers but very often a very busy time for us grandparents as we have to look after children while their parents work.

Best part of being a grandparent I think is growing old disgracefully and going on bouncy castles!.

That strikes a chord! Sat down with #1 son and d-i-l (both work full-time) last night to plan summer's childcare - end of term today. Younger grandson will continue at pre-school but the older one will have to shuttle between me and his other grandparents from now until early Sept. We all love him to bits and he's a delight but it's very tying and very tiring too!

Asked him yesterday what he'd like to do this summer - answer, go to the big toyshop in the next town!!
