I don't remember much about Edith Wharton, except that her books are extremely well written and enjoyable. They have been used as Classic Serials, and the Early Thread is taking an interest. If you want to throw in Henry James as well, who am I to complain?

For informatin about the Genres thread, why not go there?

    It's a bit dusty, I'm sorry.

I'm afraid I haven't read any Edith Wharton, though I don't know why not really, as they sound my cup of tea. I have seen several films based on her books though, which received critical acclaim, e.g., Ethan Frome, The Age of Innocence and The House of Mirth. I could have sworn I once saw a television adaptation of one of her novels, too, but I can't remember what, just that it was beautifully filmed.

Oh, just seen that The Old Maid, a 1939 film starring Bette Davis was based on a Wharton novella, too. I really must try the books.
