Someone has been really helpful to me and, normally, I would hand over a big box of chocolates to say Thank You. But I know she is vegan, so I guess chocolates are out, even the plain ones.
Can anyone suggest an alternative, please? I'd be very grateful for your help, thanks.

I suppose you could go into a health food shop and see what they have there?
Someone in ML said that these are delicious, so I saved the link. Haven't tried them myself yet though:

AFAIK, vegans eat plain chocolate, so if you can't find something fancier perhaps a couple of bars of superior plain chocolate wrapped artistically would fit the bill. I may be stereotyping, but I would definitely also go for Fairtrade in this case.

I found another link on your page, Rusty
Mmmmm, all looks delicious, Janx. I've got a birthday coming up soon, so just about anything and everything there will be going on my Wish List.

Coco is just up the road from me and most of their stock is organic and/or Fairly Traded - much of it is vegan. It was started by a woman trained as a parfumier and she uses those skills in delicately adding essential oils to the chocolates - none of it is overpowering, instead very very delicate - for instance the dark chocolate with rosemary is more like eating dark chocolate whilst leaning back against a rosemary bush in the warm sun!
I especially like that rosemary one but also the dark chocolate with rose oil and black pepper oil works wonderfully.
They do online mail order.

What about a box of exotic mixed glace fruit?
(This thread would get more replies in The Bull, I think)
Booja Booja chocolates are vegan and are considered the absolute best thing you can offer as a treat by vegan friends of mine. They are expensive and are stocked by more upmarket health food shops or can be bought on line. Green and Black's dark chocolate (70%+) is also vegan.
Or if your vegan friend is someone who loves fruit and veg (not all do, I know a vegan who lives on Pot Noodles) you could make a really top-notch fruit/veg box.

I remember a thread awhile ago where someone was raving about some smoked almonds they'd eaten. Found a source if anyone's interested
A vegan son gives me Booja Booja chocs, and they are delicious!

This is bulb planting time.
Get a very pretty bowl, put in bulb fibre and plant up with hyacinths.
