This topic was created out of a need for a space where special interest groups could meet on a regular basis, to discuss, chat, help, support and inform others on their topic of interest, away from the hurly-burly of the busier Bull. The Mustardland Fat Club (MFC) and associated groups (Cookbook & Gym) who had difficulty finding a home on the other topics of TA board were the initial beneficiaries but other groups soon sprang up and meet regularly on a weekly, monthly, rolling or ad-hoc basis (please see the list below).
To these regular groups was added the initial Otherwise group, originally meeting weekly to discuss issues of concern to parents of Autistic children. Otherwise soon became of more general support to those undergoing trauma or great stress due to health, relationship issues, life in general etc., personally or professionally and specific Otherwise threads appear as and when someone calls for help, or in the words of one poster 'a cuggle and a cuppa'.
Please note that there are ten times more lurkers than posters about and the sensitive nature of some of the Otherwise posts may require care in making sure one is not easily identified. This is a public message board which *anyone* can read. If in doubt, create a *completely* *new* log-in & identity for the sole purpose of that Otherwise issue (merely changing nick-names temporarily changes your nickname everywhere and reverting back to your old nick-name reverts back all posts).
Club thread openers are kindly requested to put the name of the Club, date of the meeting, and topic if relevant in the thread title, to make browsing for clubs easier (& leaving more time for posting!).
Here is a list of current groups. Everyone is welcome to join in any discussion (these are not ‘exclusive’ clubs!). If you are looking for a particular group, it should be quite easy to find by scrolling back a few pages. Alternatively, if there is a specific subject you would like to bring up that wouldn’t fit in an existing group, by all means feel free to start a new thread on that topic.
NB Most groups have a ‘rolling’ thread which is renewed when it gets too long. Others are started at regular intervals (specified below).

Thanks Tayler - and to Bette for all the work in updating the original which I think was devised by E.Yore although posted by Keri. Good to have one which doesn't need to be bumped so that any amendments will probably be fairly near the top of the thread.

Tayler, thanks for making this a sticky .... it required a degree of ingenuity to keep the old thread at the top of the mayo! I've just checked and it began in December 2006! We even resorted to discussing what colour we would paint the doors to The Village Hall once ... and needless to say it was always hard to get anyone to volunteer to do any springcleaning ..... though XNomadnomore had a way of cajoling!

Goodness, doesn't that list look impressive? A better list of societies than some universities!
No cheese appreciation thread though (DS's favourite at his college).
You could always start one, ermitrude, and see how many 'takers' there are!
I, too, was amazed by the breadth of group interests, once I tried to make a list!
Seriously, I am loving this 'sticky thread'. It makes life /so/ much easier for us (ie, those who used to bump up Keri's thread regularly).
Thanks for the work that's gone into this thread.

Are you going to update that every month then? A lot of those links will change in the next few days.
It was just an experiment into an old-fashiond contents page, Bear - since we've got a sticky post at the top of the board. I'm not sure it's really needed since we've all got an "My discussions" page anyway. The Village Hall board changes all the time just like the other boards, so I guess it'll get obsolete failrly quickly.
This is very important ....

3arnowl, just to thank you for those links as it has helped me find the Chronic Fatigue thread .... someone has just popped up on another thread and I have been able to point her in the right direction. I had unjoined that thread as part of a tidy up operation and had rather regretted doing so ... so thanks. :0)
Pleased to hear that someone found it useful. Thanks Birdy.

A lot of threads that renew themselves each week/month/every 2000 posts, put links at the bottom to the next thread, also new people can click on the names of posters and probably find more recent threads that way.
:0)
Just adding a post so that this sticky doesn't look too sad.
(Threads which look 'dead' are often ignored.)

This topic was created out of a need for a space where special interest groups could meet on a regular basis, to discuss, chat, help, support and inform others on their topic of interest...Â
...but only for another two weeks.
Where are some of us going to get that help and support now?
I've created an ML board over on the proboards servers. In particular, I've made a Village Hall space. The MH thread has been started, as has the Cancer Copers thread. Anyone else that wants to come over is very welcome to do so.
I've done this because I recognise the value of what's done in this part of the board, and I can't bear to think that it will be lost. I've made a space, and I hope it's useful to you xx

Thanks Taylor.
Well done but what a shame the Ö÷²¥´óÐã couldn't find a tiny corner to keep it open.A grain of sand on a beach in terms of budget.

Dear Tayler
-- just to say thank you.
I know there was some humming and haaaing when you took over from Keri (and thank to him too)
but you have been a good friend and on our side (as was clear from your Feedback bit ) -- and we all realise what you have to say is 'modded' from your side too.
What will you be doing now? And shall we see you on 'the other side' ? Whatever that turns out to be.
Anyhow
just
thanks
xx

Hi ana
I'll still be looking after bits and pieces for The Archers online - the Twitter and Facebook accounts and posting to the blog. And yes, I hope to see you all on the other side! I'll miss this place : )
