    It's official.

In the past couple of months I have 'done' the menopause. Quite quickly it would seem.

Then this morning Offspring told me her period had started.

What could be more natural? And strange...

    The poor thing.

Can't wait for the bloody menopause. Had this monthly thing since the age of 11 and class 7 of bloody primary school. Decades of misery.

Just going through a period now and the aggression and anger got so bad yesterday, I nearly took on everyone in the Altstadt (old part of town where all the bars are - and it was very full yesterday, for mid-week). Maybe that's why I was such a stroppy teenager.

Congrats FoM and daughter of FoM for this smooth transition.

Dame C. This is the second reference in a couple of days to you having such an awful time with your periods.

I find it hard to believe that you have to put up with this. Elsethread you mentioned taking the pill full time, which isn't really good for you in other ways, but even that only seems to cut down the number of occasions per year that you have to suffer.

Surely someone must be able to improve things for you. If your current doc can't/won't help, perhaps its time to try another one.

    Thanks Dunlurkin

Incidentally I've attempted another small bit of literary translation. Russian this time. With a bilingual friend of my daughter's doing the literal translation.

Dunlurkin, there are people a lot worse off than me. The idea of my gynaecologist to continue taking the pill all the time was a godsend. But sometimes my body tells me it needs to have a period. So then I let it. Sometimes, it's okay and goes well. But sometimes... sometimes I could thump people. The last time this year, I swore at my mum and shocked myself - didn't know where that sudden spike of rage had come from. But things are a lot better now than they were in my teenage years when my lips would go white and I'd be in a sweat most of the time, too. So.. when that guy in NZ said that sometimes women have a problem once a month, that's true. But no.. things are better now that I've got the damned things down to about four times a year. And as I said.. sometimes.. they pass by quite easily. But sometimes... I could beat the Klitschko brothers up. With one hand tied behind my back. smiley - winkeye

Used to have a colleague...you could always tell how bad her period was by the size of the bar of chocolate she wanted/needed. I was very nervous one day, when we were running a training session, and I was going to the shop for early morning coffees*. I said was there anything else she wanted, and she asked me to get her "the biggest bar of G*l*xy they have." And she didn't suffer alone, everyone suffered with her. If you happened to breathe wrong, or were wearing the wrong colour top, you were liable to get your head bitten off.

    * We needed refreshment before the training session started, we'd already driven nearly 50 miles to the venue, and had all the computers to set up when we got there.

< Dunlurkin, there are people a lot worse off than me. >

No doubt, but to me that wouldn't be a reason not to try everything to improve my situation. You not doing so doesn't help anyone else, or rather, you attempting to make things better won't affect these other poor people in any negative way.

Do you take Vitamin B6 Dame Celia? It makes the difference between sweetness and light and homicidal mania for me.

I was 50 last month and I haven’t had a period for 7 months now. But I haven’t had any hot flushes or night sweats to speak of. Occasional insomnia, mood swings, that’s about it really. DCM sorry to hear your periods are such a pain.
