....glorious cramp ......
I'm not much weight dripping wet , and I'm Very Old ........I walk far every day , don't drive at the mo , but terrible constant cramp that is driving me nuts ....cramp located in both lower and rear upper legs .
Can't take salt , so not an option , before anyone starts shouting *More Salt In Your Diet * .
Anyone else suffer ? Or should I stop walking ? Or ask GP whether my drugs are having an effect .... I know that is stating the screamingly obvious .
Ouch!
Have you googled your meds and cramp? I have come across so many seemingly unconnected drug-induced effects in various people recently that that would be my first line of enquiry. Then the GP and/or your pharmacist.
Is it possible that the elements in Lo-Salt would help with cramp while not overloading you with whatever part of salt you don't want?
I have heard people talk of incresaing magnesium uintake to cure cramps.
I hope you sort it soon.

Nora I really think you should get off to your GP asap. Are you absolutely sure it is cramp?
There are a number of conditions that cause cramp like pain in the legs. On the other hand it may be some other type of pain that you are confusing with cramp.
My sympathy though. At present I have bad knee pain radiating down the leg (worse at night). I finally went to my GP and am now waiting for an appointment with an orthopaediac consultant.
Get it checked out is my advice.
Did get bitten whist in furrin parts and had to have skin cut off both feet when I arrived home :cellultis, pretty sure that is not spelled correctly , and was on antibees ; only for a week , but legs , or bits of legs still falling off ...perhaps it is to do with that .
First appoint Monday week , peacemaker : the nightime thing ..........I'm talking about a diddy bit of cramp here ...................interrupted sleep , for any reason is just pants , so You make sure you see your OC soonest .

Definitely talk to your GP. But are you on steroids?
I have to take courses of these from time to time for a chronic condition and they can cause excruciating cramps unexpectedly, in the legs, feet and hands Sometimes it is just when I'm walking down the street, sometimes just lying in bed in the middle of the night..
Hi
Have you tried eating a couple of bananas if you can't take salt. They contain potassium and that might just fix it?

I have also been told that tonic water is good for cramp - not sure about the gin though.
I get cramps in certain muscles quite a bit (had a muscle strain that may be the cause, or was caused by cramp) and do regular stretches, when the muscles are warmed (before and after exercise), to help and that is the best thing so far, but has not been a cure

MAGNESIUM!
just shouting because the thread is a bit old.
I`ve suffered from cramps in the same muscle in my leg since I had an operation on my spine, so I know it´s a nerve thing, but I`ve always been told to take magnesium and it works, worth a try

Thanks - I eat plenty of those (except soya which I avoid for its oxalic acid content, and cocoa which I 'try' to avoid, most of the time!)
Back to the physio exercises for me - it is particulary bad after the summer rest.
