I know the 'free speech and all that' but nowadays I am almost afraid to enter the Gardening on TV' board for the fear of reading some of the negativities and arguments going on here about various presenters and GW.
I know I am going to be told 'if you don't like it don't read'. Well this is me exercising my right for free speech.

Having said this, the board is also very informative.

It is like going to work and having to put up with one of my colleague going on about something or other almost everyday but he can also be funny other times.

Its just the sycophantic admiration on here at times that gets me.

I don't care who fronts GW as long as they know their stuff and the program contains something for everyone. The decline in the viewing figures shows that it had lost its way. This is one of the reasons I came to this board, I was so incensed at how poor the program had got.

However I do reply to questions if it is something that I have personal knowledge of doing and offer advice where I can.

Having seen the who will replace Monty debate from the sidelines, I would like to add my opinions. Having only watched the last 4 GW's I've found TB to be ok. He has a relaxed style, seem to know his stuff and I'm prepared to give him time. Of the previous names put forward my vote would have been for Chris Beardshaw but that was not to be. I still find the Carol Klein adulation strange. Although she maybe knowledgeable in her subject, it's the voice and accent that grates on me... like scraping polystyrene or chalk on a blackboard. I have to turn the sound down and put subtitles on. And all that forced enthusiasm. Joe Swift was ok until the allotment bit started and as an allotment holder for over 20 years, Joe's attempts were dire.Better to have asked his fellow allotment holders to present the spot, it would have been better.
My only realy major complaint is the programme is too short. I would have thought a hour long programme would have kept all factions of the gardening world happy, whereas now trying to cram so much in 30 mins means the quality suffers
