Could anyone tell me when a courgette becomes a marrow or are they two different things? My friend wanted to make marrow jelly and was given both courgettes and marrows but didn't know which was which and whether she would ruin it by using courgettes. Any comments would be appreciated
Any comments, Bertie? Why isn't this post in 'Garden Clinic'?
Now Paul, be nice. It's not always obvious to newcomers where to post. I'm sure the hosts will move it on Monday.
The answer is that courgettes will grow into marrows if you leave them and there is no real difference. Some varieties are bred to be better marrows than courgettes and some the other way round. But you can use any courgette, whatever it's size, to make marrow jam.

Sorry, just 'reverting to type'. I thought the clue was in the heading 'Gardening on TV'.
Paul, you are absolutely right but people still make the mistake. If only they read everything twice and check before posting!

Thanks Trillium for your help. As it was the first visit to this site I can only apologise for making the mistake of posting on the wrong message board. Can anyone tell me how to move it as you suggest?
No need to move it now as you got the answer to your question. Just post the questions related to growing veg/herbs/fruit on Allotment tales in future.
How incredibly rude some of the posters on here are.
PaulN if you met someone in the street who had lost their way would you treat them like that?
MalanD you are responding to a fellow poster not an eight year old school child.
It isn't that clear which board you should post on if you are new.

Hi Bertie - wlcome to the boards and sorry this post has gone a bit awry. If you repost on the Allotment tales board you'll find lots of other veg growers with sound advice to offer. We can move discussions, but in this instance, I feel it might be better to close the thread and start again. Hope this hasn't put you off - you'll find lots of helping hands. Good luck with the courgettes and best wishes, Phyll
