We have just watched this programme for the first time and wonder whether we could make a mini pond by digging our old plastic baby bath into a hole in the garden. Would this work? Our garden is only small, and we do not have much money to spare at present
Yes it would but remember it has to be installed so that the water is level at the brim and the brim should be covered to protect it from damaging sunlight. You ca overlap some turves or flat stones or even pebbles to achieve this.
Make sure also that you have a stone or plank which can be used as an escape route for any creatures that land in your pond. Frogs can't escape vertical sides and nor can hedgehogs.

I think that's a very good idea, to utilize something you already have. Even if it can't be made to suit all wildlife, you will still get lots of little creatures using it.
