  First off...I'm no expert gardener. I would say i'm a novice. I've had an allotment for about a year and before that mainly window boxes and a city 'postage stamp' garden. I'm not a member of any gardening socities and have never been to a garden show. I say this as a preamble...
  I haven't tuned in to Gardeners World since last summer but caught Fridays show (17th Apr) and have to say I was really disapointed. I cant beieve how trashy and dumbed down it's become. (I'm hoping it was just a bad week!)
  Presenters aside (I loved Monty and wanted Carol to take helm) the content was so poor.
  First off the overlong item on gnomes,then the craft a trashy shelf in certain time. Then the Apprenctice style 'reality tv' thing for Carols course and a supposed clifhanger, somthing lifted from CÖ÷²¥´óÐã and last but by no means least, the "whats hot/ whats not" thing - if I want to watch a fashion show I'll watch "Project Runway".
  But the whole ethos seems to have changed. No more interesting items about certain plant types, companion planting, bugs, propogating, compost, what to plant this week etc. It seemed to be more about when to go to the garden centre to buy plug plants and what's "fashionable" - so much so I was expecting to see some product placement from a large garden centre.
  I expect there was a Ö÷²¥´óÐã directive to make GW more "accessible" and "current" but it just comes across as chavy shoping channel program now - renamed GWTVStyle. I'll give it one more chance but if not, that wil leave just 2 programs worth watching on the beeb (Damages and The Wire).
