when will Ö÷²¥´óÐã be kind enough to post online
a map of the Greenacres garden lay out.
I aware that the map was featured in Ö÷²¥´óÐã gardeners World magazine. But they did have a map of Berryfeilds online. So why not post the Greenacres map.

I noticed on the latest Gardener's World blog

the picture of Greenacres covered in snow. It looks like all the interest is crammed in around the shed/greenhouse area up against the wall and that the rest of the garden is like an empty field.
Obviously it is going to look bare and empty at this time of year but I would have expected some features in the wide open space. It makes it all look like a stage set which is, I guess, what it is. And maybe therein lies the problem.

Holly - the structural plants that give shape in winter take years to establish and Greenacre is a new site. Also since the programme is off air in winter, winter interest for viewers isn't a priority. So I really don't see this as an issue.

I think the photo was simply to illustrate that there isn't much they can do with so much snow around, except take pictures of it!

I'm aware of that Trillium. It was more that the photo gave the impression that all the garden interest was crammed into one area. In a garden that size it might be expected that there would be some hard landscaping to break the apparent 'empty' mass up. As the OP noted we never get an overall plan of Greenacres to see what has been done where therefore it isn't possible to know whether the flat areas are trial/veg beds and borders etc.

I wasn't making an issue of it - just curious and speculating as to whether the design of Greenacres, being no doubt decided in order to cater for the filming side of things, is also one of the reasons the program fails. As has been noted so many times on these boards one of the things that made GW better was being filmed from Alan or Geoff's own gardens.

GH created many different gardens on his plot in order to show what could be done with different styles/sizes/budgets so I don't think being a film set is the problem at Greenacres.

Given the size of the site, they could very easily have paid more attention to permanent and seasonal interest. They may close down from October to March at GW but real gardens don't and the planning and planting for winter interest and wildlife care is done during the filming period.
