Have just seen on Horticulture Weekly that Chris has a new programme about transforming gardens and what people can do with their outdoor space.
It starts tonight on Ö÷²¥´óÐã one Northern Ireland (which is where the programme was filmed) at 7.30pm.
It is called 'Get up and Grow' and can be seen in the rest of the UK on Sky 973 according to the information given. I've just checked our Freesat schedule and it's on 957.

Yes, I did - well I missed the first one. I f.fwded through most of the other 2. I kept thinking it would get better, but it didn't.

Glad I'm not on my own there. I looked forward to Chris Beardshaw's programme but was terribly let down and disappointed.
I really like to listen to Chris on TV and I've loved his garden designs but does anyone remember the very stilted way he used to narrate his pieces when he first appeared on our screens on GW, many years ago? It used to make me cringe. He's obviously looked back at his own recordings and thought the same or he's taken voice coaching.
Toby is often picked up for his breathlessness but I remember Geoff Hamilton (my favourite) was exactly the same.

I quite like Chris (some of the time)but, even though I think I'm more of a plantaholic than a gardener, I find him a bit too intense sometimes. He's obviously very knowledgeable, and into horticulture, but for an amateur - like wot I am - I prefer someone like Carol. She's also very knowledgeable, but I find her easier to listen to. Someone suggested Chris should be a presenter on GW, but I wouldn't like to see that.
I thought the last bit of the third programme, where they gave the lady's front garden a make-over, wasn't too bad. But there seemed to be more 'toys for boys' than actual 'Digging'.

I meant 'Growing' (as the programme title suggested) - not 'Digging'

Yes, but there was more 'digging' with these toys rather than 'growing' wasn't there?

Well, I caught up with GUAG on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã iPlayer watching three episodes in a row over Baked Beans & Baked Potato (homegrown) and I thought that the programme was entertaining but never showed the final "project"; a bit strange. An intelligent GROUNDFORCE, I suppose. Nothing special. It's strange that Beardshaw has the same s l o w delivery that the Ö÷²¥´óÐã's Robert Preston has. It's a bit w e a r i n g at times. Would I watch GUAG again? Maybe.
