Two things happened last evening on Gardeners' World that I never thought I'd see from Monty. Firstly he said he sometimes bought compost for his garden and secondly he used mycorrhizal fungi when planting his bare root roses. Two commercial products mentioned in the first show!!
Hopefully we'll get to hear about more things us busy folk can buy in to help our gardens grow!!

Sharing your frustration DK.
Why are the Moderators allowing such practice? It contributes zero and is nothing short of sabotage by the perpetrators.

Unless you hadn't noticed, daisydelight, my prime function here for the past several years has been to help people (including you) with answering their gardening queries.

For which I'm grateful but does that mean you control the whole thing.

Strange how me expressing my frustration about the multitude of threads being started on the same topic could lead you to such a conclusion.

I agree - too many threads on the same topic. Can't people read???

Then let me explain. I expect, if we all read every bit of recent threads before posting, the boards would seem to be better organised to some people.
Not too long ago your comment about not starting new threads on the same subject would have put me off contributing to the boards for weeks. I would have thought not only are these people excellent gardeners but they know how the boards should be organised and I'm messing them up.
I dislike people being criticised for the way they use the boards when their intentions are obviously good. I also enjoy the spontaneity of the comments.
Many people who use these boards are excellent gardeners and some of us are not, even though we love our gardens and are keen to learn. However, I'm sure we all have something to learn from each other and we are all entitled to enjoy this useful site.

Surely the whole point of having a thread title is to appraise those glancing at the page of each thread's subject, and therefore which relevant thread to add their comments to ?? It's hardly rocket science, and if people don't look, it would seem they are more intent on just posting their own views, rather than entering into a discussion. Of course it could always be the Ö÷²¥´óÐãs way of increasing threads so the subject assumes greater popularity/improtance

I agree Lowena. There are too many threads about Friday's GW. They would all be appropriate if the posters were talking about a whole new aspect of the programme but they are all either giving it the thumbs up or the thumbs down. Most are posting on the two most popular threads. To be fair, it is only a hand full of people starting new threads on the same subject. Like you I suspect they want their opinion to stand out. Its a bit like shouting when everyone else it having a discussion.

i think the thing is; if you are to get any inspiration from anything such as art architecture, design craft, literature etc etc you need to look at the masters the purest and then work down from there. using the methods knowledge and ethos demonstrated. This is what MD & Carol Klein offer to garden.
I see Toby's approach a bit more like blue peter & play. obviously there seems a need for both approaches for completely different audiences, equally valid. but for me a like to work towards a higher bench mark of knowledge in the hope that i might then reach some sort of standard, if the bench mark is set too low i fear that i would only become a 'garden center shopper' candles and all!
COME ON Ö÷²¥´óÐã GIVE BOTH TYPE OF PUNTERS WHAT THEY WANT

David K, Lowena and Cycling Gardener - I share your frustrations. It surely cannot be that difficult to look down the list of titles then add one's comments to the appropriate thread, and only create a new thread if the subject isn't covered?
I mentioned this habit a while ago but this just stirred up a hornet's nest of insults. Anyway I've said my piece as people are likely to fly off the handle again. And I won't mention the gross lack of uppercase letters and punctuation. Nope, not me.

I'd rather read short threads that focus on a specific aspects rather than having to wade through 60 odd posts.
But that's what makes us all different I guess..... (I'm a happy poster by the way!
