So the Don is back . Firstly may I say I am most happy to see he has recovered from his illness .
Secondly I have enjoyed him in one off travel and ancestry programs. But why oh why have they replaced Toby who was just warming up nicely. With the 鈥淢ogadon鈥 as he known in my circle of gardening friends.

I looked forward to watching the Greenacres Garden develop over the years . But now we have a 20 year old formal garden, as unbending clipped and uptight as the Monty Don himself. Am I going to plant a hazel coppice NO am I going to plant a lime walk and wait years NO. Am I going to tune in to look at dull green clipped box balls which took twenty years to grow NO .

There seems to be one old fashioned formal straight long summer boarder. Held back by clipped Box less a plant should stray . Is Mr Don likely to tear up his garden he has devoted 20 years too , Unlikely I think. So what is there to develop and show? We know he has issues with mixing colour . We all remember the Dahlia incident at Berrysfield. And the hissy fit that caused. I would love to see him spend a summer at Great Dixter with Fergus Garrett. Of course no one can please all of the people. But this is a poor choice of all the people they have at there disposal. And I soon expect the old it's organic or death drivel to be hurting our ears, as he endlessly bangs on about it. If I can stay awake that is during the show. And we love you Alys wherever you are .

thanks for the support Miss potter But I have long given up hoping the 主播大秀 will listen. Viewing figures and focus groups, and the fact the production producers are not gardeners willl mean nothing wiil change. Till the next knee jerk

I guess that Mr Don is not everyones cup of tea. Personally, I like his style plus I`m a veg person through and through which helps.

I, (like Mr Don) garden organically and I take issue with your comments about "organic or death drivel"
If you know anything about soil science the you would realise how much damage chemical fertilizers / pesticides do to the soil food webs which exist in healthy soils. I`m assuming that Monty Don keeps banging on about it because he has knowledge of the subject and is passionate about it. Please Google it and do some reading. You may be surprised !

Dear pjgolf I know a great deal about soil I grew up on a farm and have tended my garden for 30 years. I try where possible to organicly garden . I am lucky I have room for a great compost heap I have a large-ish Garden.
However most people do not . Last year do to every bad weather I had a huge out break of Botrytis on my grapes and other plants. It came over the garden fence from a unkempt garden, as do most of the pest and moulds.
I simply had to spay to prevent loss of good plants. And plant proximity in many modern gardens means that blackspot green fly etc can spread like wild fire. And many small town gardeners even if they would pefer not to, have use non organic products
