I was so looking forward to GW starting again, but have to say I was disappointed with the content, except for Carol's bit. As always she generates enthusiasm. As for the rest of the prog. I felt that although Monty's garden is lovely, as it's on such a big scale I had difficulty relating to it. How many of us viewers have a patch as big as he has? I was baffled by the comments about the beetroot seeds as well, as I understood that they are in clusters already. I'm hoping that as the weeks go on I shall be more inspired, but if not I shall just watch Carol's slot!
What a disappointment. After Carol's inspirational series what has Monty to offer us? Box balls!
My garden, at the moment, is full of scents from winter honeysuckle, viburnum daphne, and other such shrubs. Full of colour from winter stems, spring bulbs, from grape hyacinth to mini daffs, and early blossom, from autumn cherry to forsythia.
Where was all that in Monty's garden. Why restrict spring to that tiny sliver of his huge plot. And why must everything be confined behind box hedges?
I must share your comments on the lack of colour in MD's garden. Like you mine is very colourful. I can understand that with such a big plot Monty needs to make rooms, but all I saw was hedges , hedges and more hedges. I've nicknamed him 'Hedgeman'!
