Oh how I agree, it's the same old people trotting out the same old stuff. There are other gardeners out there, head gardeners of estates and National Trusts etc. etc. I would love to hear what they have to say. I really want to know what 'normal' gardeners do - Christine Walkden is fabulous - a really down to earth person with a normal garden and normal problems, not some massive estate like Monty's. What does he know about reality?

When Cristine Walkden had her own series there were lots of "discussions" on here about it.
Personally, I`m a member of the live and let live party but the reaction to her was terrible.
The nasty faction loved it and made it their mission to insult her (in a very personal way) every single week.
I liked her, she was down to earth and honest and obviously knew lots about gardening (like Geoff Hamilton ?)
She`s probably better off not being on the telly !

    Yeah where's Toby?

The show seems to be about how big Montys garden is. How about having a gardener with a 7m x 7m garden like mine!!

Attacking Monty for the size of his garden is getting boring now and a bit desperate. Nobody complained about the size of Barnsdale, Barleywood, Berryfields or Greenacres.

I agree. Perhaps the answer is to let both Monty and Toby have their own programmes, catering for all gardening levels. An hour a week dedicated to gardening isn't too much to ask is it?

Totally agree with these comments Christene was total down to earth gardener, worked all her life looked after her neighbours and loved growing stuff in relitively small garden, and not had lost a load of money some jewlery business, from over spending , then jumped on the gardening band wagon after buyin another big plot of land with money from got knows where?
Most people who go Bankrupt lose everything. Its about time they went into real gardeners gardens with small plots who spend there hard earnt cash on gardens they love and gave advice to them.
I`d love them to come to mine.

I'm not a young gardener but I was so pleased with Toby's presentation and gardening skills when he took over from Monty Don. I always felt that Monty gardened from a book where Toby gardened from his heart. I am shocked that Monty is back and that Alice yhas gone as well. The programmes this year have been a bit of a let down in the main but it's good to have Rachel back on the team with Carol and Joe. Bring back Toby!!

An hour a week dedicated to gardening isn't too much to ask is it?Ìý I'm in total agreement with luddics, GARDENERS WORLD used to be a 60min program, but in-spite of the fact that veg seeds have the highest sales ever, and councils with long waiting lists are struggling to to find space for allotments the Ö÷²¥´óÐã for some reason known only to themselves have cut the program to 30mins.
Surely with all these new allotmenteers searching for information and guidance the Ö÷²¥´óÐã could revert back to the original 60mins.
Why not split the program into two 30min sections with Toby presenting 1st half for beginners and later Monty
    for the more seasoned gardeners.
So please Ö÷²¥´óÐã keep up with the times.

My memory must be going...............................as far as I can recall GW has always been a 30 minute programme except for a couple of longer programmes in each run.GH and AT were certainly always on from 8.30 - 9pm on a Friday;/

Now there is a good idea.
So far the current offerings by MD have been dull, dull and duller.
I watch gardening programmes to learn not as an aid to insomnia.
Why not BRING back a programme with Toby and Alys, and please both ranks of the MD v Toby.

Roll on Monday when Beechgrove returns to the screens/computer.

I am sure that the first season of Toby taking over the reigns they were all a hour long,I think that was the first time for the main program and the last apart from the specials of course......

Beechgrove yes a nice return indeed and no bloody dull lighting I bet..
