    i have 22 conifers lining my driveway ( 11 each side )
15 are approx 6ft. high and 7 are about 8 or 9 ft. high.
i want to reduce the taller trees to the same hight as the others,
    any suggestions please.

    regards // bill

You will probably get a better response if you post your question on garden clinic

This is a question for the clinic, not the TV borad.

However, we have been gradually reducing ours to a manageable height and I can tell you that OH has just reduced ours again by about 2 to 3 feet using big loppers to take out the thicker stems and then the hedge trimmers to tidy up.
Simple job but hard work and you need a stable set of step ladders and a decent set of loppers. Thicker stems will need a pruning saw.

Conifers do not regrow from brown wood so be careful to angle your cuts down to the centre of the hedge to reduce the visibility of fresh pale cuts and leave some green branches growing to the same height or slightly higher so they will grow to cover them.

In future, trim your hegde at least once a year - in summer after birds have fledged - with electric or petrol powered hedge trimmers to keep the height and width under control.
