The death mask of Tutankhamen was very fascinating looking at its long dated age. Many archeologits described it as one of the most fantastic discoveries in the history of Hatshepsut's temple artifacts. But,many debates over many issues that surrounded the young king's death still lapsed behind.Modern technological methodology thrown wide light on the profile with throated answers. The mask appeared, among other items found in the tomb to me the most palpable revelation about his family love for him. From number of jeweries found in his tomb unfurled arguably how the King's people and his house loved him as young person who had gone through dangerous illness---I beleive led to his early death.Scan revealed the waist-bone was almost in same length as the chest's.Maybe this had been because of his strive against the disease that I beleive was a kind of childhooh of disease. They showered a pitty;spoiling his grave with many items---probably for him to enjoy after death.Above all these,I always wonder why the goldsmith chose the blue colour glass to adorn the solid gold mask?

    Hi Patrick

The blue from Egypt was predominately from lapis lazuli. This has always been associated with royalty and power mainly as the best source was from Afghanistan, and so it was only the extremely rich and powerful who could afford it. In Rennaisance art I believe it was only used to depict the Virgin for similar reasons.

And, of course, it contrasts so well with the gold.

I could figured out with regards to many unforseeable reasons that to rule the kingdom was more or less the consequence that lead to his early childhood death. What do you?
