    Hello,

Does anyone out there have any recent information about the current excavations in the Valley of The Kings. Guardian's Egypt states that two tombs (one possibly Pharaonic) have been discovered.

Excavations have been ongoing since october, apparently.

    Many thanks!

I kept a cutting from the 'Yorkshire Post' of 12 Nov and it showed a photo captioned "New Egyptian pyramid discovered". Assuming that it is what you are interested in, I give the full write-up below:

A new 4,300-year-old pyramid has been discovered in the Egyptian region of Saqqara, the sprawling necropolis and burial site of the rulers of ancient Memphis.

The pyramid is said to belong to Queen Sesheshet, the mother of King Teti who was the founder of the 6th Dynasty of Egypt's Old Kingdom.

Egypt's antiquities chief Zahi Hawass announced the discovery yesterday at the site in Saqqara, 12 miles south of Cairo.

His team has been excavating at the location for two years but he said the discovery was only made two months ago when it became clear that the 16ft tall structure uncovered under the sands was a pyramid - the 118th discovered so far in Egypt.

Thanks, but that wasn't what I was referring to at all.

I'm aware that Hawass has touted discovery of a "New" pyramid recently. The reality is that the pyramid he is referring to was originally identified in the 1880s!

My original post was to seek information on the current, ongoing excavations in the Valley of The Kings. The current digs (two of them) have apparently identified two separate cuttings into the bedrock, one of which may be the hitherto undiscovered tomb of Pharaoh Ramesses VIII.
