A seven year study of archaeological sites above and below Toba ash [ca74Ka] in India has revealed, that similar Middle Palaeolithic tools were used immediately before and after the volcanic eruption. These lithic artifacts are similar to those, which were made by coeval modern humans in Africa.M Petrogolia [2010] contends that Homo sapiens occupied sites in India prior to the Toba eruption and survived the natural disaster.A Merriwether’s [2005] analysis of Island Melanesia
mtDNA samples included an age estimate of 73.5 +/- 7.4 Ka for the combined macrohaplogroup M,which is compatible with Petrogolia’s research.

Not surprising Sapiens living in India prior to 70,000 years back when Sapiens is attested in Australia at the latest 45,000 years back! It is easier to move coast to coast from East Africa to India than from India to Australia no matter if water levels back then was lower (water is not the problem, dense forest is).
