    There is a talk by Peter Parham online.When Homo sapiens left Africa,they did not have immunity to many of the diseases that they would encounter in Eurasia.
    They obtained immunity when they fraternized with Neanderthals and Denisovans.In the current human genome there is only a small archaic genetic imput from Neanderthals and Denisovans,The present immune system of Papua New Guineans has a greater than 90% archaic content and most extant people have ca 50%.The Denisovan contribution tends to be higher in Asia and Neanderthal in Europe.

    There is an interesting critique of these conclusions by John Hawks who has been looking at something similar.
