Hey there (whoever replies to this *grins*)-

I'm going into year 11 at school in september, and once we get back, we'll start sorting out our college placements etc.

I recently decided that I really want to go into archaeology, and was wondering if anyone has any idea of what kind of qualifcations I need as far as A Levels / International Baccalaureate Diploma go, or any on line organisations I can contact to ask for details?

    Cheers very much

Archaeology is a fairly diverse discipline so there is no set subjects that will favour one applicant over another although history is always useful as a demonstration of commitment to the past and at least one member of the history department should have some advice they can pass on. You might also try looking up the local archeological unit or museum and see if they have any activities you can help with like field walking as it shows initiative. There will be a county archaologist who should be able to put you in touch with any relevant local organisation. Participation in other group social activities probably wouldn't do any harm for that matter given the scope of fieldwork and study.
